Last night I had a heart centered amazing evening with a group of fabulous, fun and open minded women. Connecting with women is definitely on “my list of things I love to do”.
In August Conscious Divas launched a new concept called Diva Date Nights which is an offline extension of our online community. Our mission is to provide an opportunity to connect with like minded women once a month who share an interest for inner growth, creating possibilities and living their best life.
The theme for last night was “Just Being or Being Present”, each month an different activity, exercise or discussion is facilitated around the theme. No evening is ever the same, the theme sets a certain vibe and each of the fabulous divas bring their unique personality, experience and energy to the dynamic.
There was one point that particularly resonated with me yesterday:
“Although my mind might be racing with a million things to do I can take the control back in any moment by simply observing my minds behavior. It doesn’t mean that the mind will necessarily stop spinning but that by observing it I can for at least a moments time realize that I am not my thoughts. This is very powerful for me because my middle name is busy. Busy is something I have a love hate relationship with so tools that allow me to see myself as something other than the busyness of my mind are great”
Below are a collective of tools that we all shared from the evening that can help you throughout the day when your feeling a little off and need to come back to being present. Some were new for me and others I use regularly, all of them only take minutes and most can be done everywhere and any where without any one knowing what you are doing.
- Repeat an “I AM xxxx” mantra in your head – this can be replaced with I AM JOY, I AM LOVE and can be done continuously for moments at a time, or minutes at a time with your eyes closed
- Take a few deep breaths; inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth and make sure when you inhale you fill your belly
- Visualize tree roots out of the bottom of your feet going all the way to center of the earth
- At any moment, ask yourself if you are coming from a place of love or fear. Love is being present fear is not.
- Put a cold cloth on your forehead
- Use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to tap on the meridian points
- Do something you love, something that allows your creativity to flow like dancing
- Repeat the mantra “I Love You” in regards to any situation in your life or just simply repeat I love you when ever you remember through out the day
I was inspired to share an online oldie but goodie, the “Free Hug Campaign” video last night because recently I was walking on the seawall with Sukhi and saw a Japanese guy holding a sign that said “Free Conversation”. I loved it, we sat down and chatted with him and he said found it such a great way to practice his English and have great conversations. He mentioned people were super friendly and open to the idea. I think we need to do these types of things more often, everyone wants to be hugged, loved and simply talked to and when we remove the barriers miracles occur.
We are super excited about Diva Date Nights and look forward to bringing them to your city…We’ll keep you posted and if you are interested in learning more let us know and we will be happy to share our excitement email us at info@consciousdivas.com.
